About SpiceAyurveda
SpiceAyurveda is a space where the golden traditions of South Asian heritage meet the curiosity of a modern world that is only just beginning to understand what those traditions have always known.
Our Story
Where This Began
Some of the most important things we know, we learned in a kitchen.
We learned them watching a grandmother grind spices by hand before dawn. In the scent of turmeric and cumin warming in ghee. In the quiet authority of a family recipe passed from one generation to the next without ever being written down.
That knowledge — ancient, precise, deeply practical — belongs to a tradition that has been alive for over four thousand years. It is called Ayurveda. And for most of us who grew up with it, it was simply called home.
"The spice rack in a South Asian kitchen is not just a collection of flavours. It is a living pharmacy, a cultural inheritance, and a daily act of care."
SpiceAyurveda was born from a simple realisation: this inherited wisdom is extraordinary, and much of the world has never truly encountered it. We wanted to tell that story properly — without hype, without shortcuts, without reducing something profound to a quick-fix promise.
Our Mission
What We Are Here to Do
SpiceAyurveda exists to educate, celebrate, and connect. We write about Ayurvedic spices and herbs with the care and depth they deserve — exploring their origins, their place in classical Ayurvedic texts, their role in traditional cooking and ceremony.
We are not a medical resource. We do not make health claims — because Ayurveda is far richer than any single claim. What we offer is context, story, and honest knowledge — the kind that makes you reach for turmeric with a different feeling.

Our Readers
Who We Write For
SpiceAyurveda is written for anyone who has ever picked up a spice and wondered where it came from. But we have four readers particularly in mind:
The curious Western reader
You've heard about Ayurveda through golden lattes and wellness podcasts and want to understand what it actually is, where it comes from, and what it really says.
The South Asian diaspora
You grew up with these traditions in your kitchen and family. This site is, in part, a love letter to that inheritance.
The wellness enthusiast
Done with fads and quick fixes. You want to learn from a system of knowledge that has stood for millennia — approached honestly and with deep respect for its origins.
The home cook
You love food, love flavour, and suspect there is more to the spice rack than you've been told. There is. We promise.
Our Promise
What You Can Always Expect
Honesty above hype
We will never exaggerate what Ayurveda can do, and we will never make health claims we cannot stand behind. Ayurveda deserves to be represented faithfully, not sensationalised.
Depth over shortcuts
Every article is researched carefully, written with respect for the tradition, and built to last. We are here to build a genuine resource — not to produce content for content's sake.
Cultural respect
Ayurveda belongs to a living culture and community. We approach it as inheritors of that tradition — not as outside observers packaging it for consumption.
